Global music company DOD announced on the 6th that it had successfully completed Pre-A funding worth 12.1 billion won (approximately 9 million dollars).
The round was led by Hashed Ventures, with major backers such as CJ Investment, iM Investment Partners, Union Investment Partners, and FuturePlay, marking it as one of the largest milestones in the South Korean entertainment industry this year.
DOD is a data-driven music enterprise platform that is bringing new value to the global K-pop market. Not only centered around its internal label business (featuring artists such as BTOB, Jini, and Nancy), the company also strengthens its IP commerce business (merch. production and pop-up stores) and concert planning through collaborations with external global K-pop artists.
This funding round highlights the scalability and innovative structure of the business model. The company is highly recognized for its management team’s capabilities, the value of its IP, and its rapidly developing DOD ecosystem. The Pre-A funds will primarily be used for acquiring new artists and expanding global operations to fulfill its vision of becoming a leading global music enterprise.
DOD is developing a comprehensive "DOD Ecosystem” that integrates music production and management (BTOB Company, ATOC), IP commerce (B Factory), and live concert production (Set the Stage), laying the foundation to evolve into a global music enterprise. In the short term, the company aims to penetrate the K-POP Intellectual Property market in Southeast Asia and Japan.
CCO Jay Kim (Head of Entertainment Group) noted, 'We will not simply remain in the domestic market but will grow into a global music company with multiple labels.' And further stated, 'This investment will serve as a foundation for DOD to take a step onto the global stage.”
Furthermore, CFO Jay Jeon stated, “This round has proved DOD’s business model and growth potential”, and added, “We plan to use it to build a foundation for future growth, including the recruitment of new artists and the expansion into overseas operations”.
Leading investor at Hashed Ventures underscored the company’s potential: “DOD’s IP ecosystem enables K-POP artists, who are already renowned for their talents and fandom, to stand globally within the matured K-POP market”. He added, “Through the expansion of artist IP and vertical integration of the value chain, the company has achieved significant topline and bottomline growth within just two years of its establishment. We anticipated their strong growth potential globally, including SEA and Japan through its expansion of the K-POP IP nurturing system”.
Established in 2022, DOD holds renowned IP such as BTOB’s Seo Eunkwang, Lee Min-hyuk, Lim Hyun-sik, and Peniel, as well as Nancy from Momoland and Jini from NMIXX. The company has secured Seed from Crit Venture and K NET Venture Capital in the early stages.
